The ruling Georgian Dream party MP Mamuka Mdinaradze has stated that the party and the government officials have refrained from visiting the bereaved of Georgian fighters killed in Ukraine in person due to the “policy of the Georgian government and the country’s international partners over volunteers.”

He stated earlier today that attending the ceremonies dedicated to the killed fighters could have been perceived as encouragement of volunteering in the war, while even the world powers are refraining from doing so.

Mdiinaradze admitted that the ruling party had discussed the issue and decided not to attend such ceremonies.

“We may be wrong, but …”  he said.

Four Georgian fighters have been killed in Ukraine since the outbreak of hostilities on February 24.

Bodies of three of them have already been transported to Georgia.
