Eka Sepashvili, an MP from the ruling party, on Tuesday accused foreign politicians making negative comments about the Georgian government of acting “on instructions from the Global War Party.”

The unspecified Global War Party has been frequently cited by the members of the Georgian Dream government as a “source in the west” influencing the decisions in the European Union and the United States, allegedly trying to “drag” Georgia in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.

The lawmaker’s comment came in response to the draft resolution by 14 MEPs which include demands to Georgia, including sanctions against Russia, sanctions against Bidzina Ivanishvili, the honorary chair and the founder of the ruling party, and other individuals, release of imprisoned former President Mikheil Saakashvili and the recall of the Family Values Law.

Sepashvili dismissed the draft resolution as “meaningless”, asserting that it represented “gross interference” in Georgia’s internal affairs and served to support the opposition, particularly the United National Movement.

She further claimed unspecified foreign politicians who condemned the actions of the GD authorities had been “bribed” by the UNM and were acting “based on the instructions of the Global War Party”.
