Ruling party MP launds Georgian State Security Service for “progress” in int’l terrorism ranking

Aleksandre Tabatadze, the First Deputy Chairman of the Parliament’s Defence and Security Committee, on Tuesday praised the Georgian State Security Service for its “effective efforts” in combating terrorism. The comment came as Georgia has secured the 89th position in the 2024 Global Terrorism Index, published by the Institute for Economics and Peace.
Tabatadze emphasized the “significant improvement”, with Georgia climbing five spots in the ranking compared to the previous year and lauded the agency for its “professionalism” and delivery of “high-quality service”, also highlighting its “effective collaboration” with international partners.
The recently released eleventh edition of GTI has provided insights into key global trends and patterns in terrorism. Compiled by the Sydney-based Institute for Economics and Peace, the GTI utilized data from Dragonfly’s TerrorismTracker database and other reputable sources. In the 2012 survey, Georgia held the 42nd position.
