Irma Zavradashvili, an MP of the ruling Georgian Dream party, responded on Friday to the United States Department of State’s announced sanctions on individuals in Georgia accused of “undermining democracy” over the controversial foreign influence bill.
Zavradashvili stated, “We will somehow bear the sanctions.”

“In the history of Georgia, people have sacrificed themselves for the stability and prosperity of our country, and somehow, we endure the sanctions,” she claimed. “My family and the families of all the leaders of the Georgian Dream are ready to bear everything for the well-being of this country. It remains to be seen who will impose the sanctions and how they will be implemented. First, let them impose the sanctions, and then we will talk about the rest. I am ready for sanctions. My family and I are prepared for all kinds of sanctions,” Zavradashvili declared.

The United States Department of State announced on Thursday the implementation of a new visa restriction policy targeting individuals in Georgia who are deemed responsible for or complicit in undermining democracy, along with their family members. This move accompanies a “comprehensive review” of bilateral ties, triggered by controversies surrounding a new foreign agents law.
