The resolutions of the European Parliament are increasingly losing their authority and power, because their content is more and more far from facts and reality, Aluda Gudushauri, an MP of the ruling Georgian Dream party, said on Tuesday.
The lawmaker’s comment came on the heels of the upcoming vote on a resolution in EP on Wednesday over imprisoned former president Mikheil Saakashvili.
“There is a court decision, and any speculations regarding Saakashvili are out of place, because the process is legal. The lawyers say they will appeal the decision of the first instance”, Gudushauri said in relation to the Tbilisi court ruling earlier this month that denied granting Saakashvili release on medical grounds.
The MP claimed the “ongoing campaign against Bidzina Ivanishvili – the founder of the GD and former prime minister – in EP would be “al in vain”, stressing the former, who is cited as a shadow ruler of the country by the domestic opposition, has been “in the service of his people and the country for years”.
