Ruling party proposes election of Prosecutor-General by 3/5th majority

The ruling Georgian Dream party proposed on thursday that the Parliament of the next two convocations will elect the Prosecutor General of Georgia with a majority of 3/5, for a term of six years, and in the event that the candidate fails to receive enough votes, the Prosecutor

 

General would be elected with a majority of votes, but for a term of one year.   

 

“As you know, against the background of sabotage by the radical opposition, Georgian Dream is actively working to fulfill the 12 conditions set by the European Commission for Georgia’s EU candidacy”, the ruling party head Irakli Kobakhidze said.  

 

He stated that the election rule of the Prosecutor General was one of the 12 conditions.
