Kakha Kaladze, Secretary General of Georgia’s ruling Georgian Dream party, on Friday reiterated his firm stance against any alliances that he perceives as contradicting the national interests of Georgia.

Kaladze’s remarks come amidst international criticism directed at the Georgian Dream party regarding the reintroduction of a controversial foreign transparency bill.

“First and foremost, our nation’s well-being is paramount,” stated Kaladze. “I adamantly oppose any alliance that poses a threat to the fundamental interests of our country, endangering the hard-earned independence and sovereignty for which our predecessors bravely fought. Just days ago, on April 9th, we honored the memory of these courageous individuals. It is imperative that we safeguard our nation’s interests and sovereignty from any potential infringement. This principle holds true universally, regardless of the nature of the alliance. The public can rest assured of our unwavering dedication. We will navigate this challenging path with utmost vigilance.”

Kaladze further emphasized, “Any coalition that hinders the progress, sovereignty, and integrity of our nation is unequivocally unwelcome.”
