A new video circulating on social media has prompted accusations that Russian forces have executed unarmed Ukrainian prisoners of war, Dmytro Lubinets, Ukraine’s Commissioner for Human Rights, said on Thursday.

The footage, which has sparked outrage, allegedly shows at least five Ukrainian servicemen being executed after their capture by Russian troops.

Lubinets condemned the incident as further evidence of Russia’s blatant violation of international humanitarian law. “Once again, we see the cynical disregard of international humanitarian law by the Russian army,” he said in a statement.

In response to the video, Lubinets confirmed that he had sent formal requests to the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross to ensure the war crime was officially documented. He emphasized the need for accountability, asserting that those responsible for ordering and carrying out such acts of brutality should face the full weight of justice.
