The Russian Interior Ministry on Wednesday announced the search for Mamuka Mamulashvili, the commander of the Georgian Legion fighting in Ukraine, following conviction of 70 Georgian volunteers, including the commander, in absentia in July.

The Georgian State Security claimed Mamulashvili was allegedly involved in a scheme of sparking unrest in Georgia this fall, along with Gia Lortkipanidze, a former official under the United National Movement Government, who is currently serving in the military intelligence of Ukraine.

The agency claimed the goal of the unrest was  to overthrow the Georgian Dream Government.

Responding to the Kremlin’s move in his social media post, Papuashvili “expressed his surprise” Moscow announced a search for him earlier than the current Georgian authorities.
