Russia earned EUR 93 billion in revenue from fossil fuel exports in the first 100 days of the invasion of Ukraine. The EU imported 61% of this, worth approximately 57 billion EUR, the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA) said in its report released on Monday.

CREA suggested that China has bought the largest amount of fossil fuels from Russia, worth 12.6 billion euros in the reported period.

It is followed by:

  • Germany (12.1 billion);
  • Italy (7.8 billion);
  • The Netherlands (7.8 billion);
  • Turkey (6.7 billion);
  • Poland (4.4 billion);
  • France (4.3 billion).
  • India (3.4 billion).

Fossil fuel exports are a key enabler of Russia’s military buildup and brutal aggression against Ukraine, said the organization.

CREA is an independent research organization focused on revealing the trends, causes, and health impacts, as well as the solutions to air pollution.

It is registered in Finland, with staff across Asia and Europe.
