Russia’s century-old policy of kidnapping, killing Georgians continue – President

Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili on Tuesday reacted to the murder of Georgian citizen Tamaz Ginturi by Russian-controlled occupation forces on Monday, and said Moscow’s “century-old policy of kidnapping and killing” Georgian citizens still continued. 

 

Extending her condolences to the family of the killed man, Zourabichvili stressed the future of Georgia was Europe and peace in Europe.

 

“Our answer to this policy is one and only one – it is Europe, peace, peace in Europe. That is why we neither look at nor believe in another perspective. It is very surprising if anyone in Georgia can believe in a future with Russia”, she added. 

 

The Russian-controlled occupation forces on Monday killed Ginturi in the village of Kirbali, near the Russian-controlled Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) region, and illegally detained another man. 

 

The de facto Tskhinvali authorities claim  the individuals were under the influence of alcohol and “disobeyed” so-called border guards.
