Russia’s imperialist wars against its neighbors did not start from Ukraine, it happened in Georgia in 2008, we can not forget that Russia is still here, former US Ambassador to NATO Kurt Volker said on Sunday at the occupation line in Georgia.
“I think it is very important to come here and remind people that after 2008, after the war started by Russia against Georgia, the bordering continues. Now the world’s attention is on Ukraine, although Russia’s imperialist wars against its neighbors did not start there, it happened here in Georgia in 2008”, Volker said.
Currently Russia occupies 20 percent of the Georgian territory, while creeping occupation is taking place on a daily basis.
Russia recognised two Georgian regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali as independent states in the wake of the Russia-Georgia 2008 war, while only Venezuela, Nikaragua, Nauru and Syria have joined Russia in its illegal recognition so far.
