The Russian-controlled occupation forces have illegally arrested a Georgian citizen near the village of Sinaguri, western Sachkhere municipality, adjacent to the country’s occupied Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) region, the Georgian State Security Service said on Tuesday.

“Upon receiving the information about the mentioned incident, the State Security Service activated the hot line operated by the European Union Monitoring Mission. Information about another fact of illegal detention was immediately reported to the co-chairs of the international discussions in Geneva and international partners”, the agency said.

It added “all available mechanisms have been activated to release the illegally detained Georgian citizen as soon as possible”, and stressed Russia was “responsible” for all “destructive actions” in the country’s occupied Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions.
