The flagship of Russia’s Black Sea fleet, a guided-missile cruiser sank Thursday after it was heavily damaged.
Ukrainian officials said their forces hit the vessel with missiles, however Russia claimed it was a fire aboard but no attack.
Russians managed to evacuate the crew.
It is a cruiser from which on February 24, the first day of the Russian attack on Ukraine, the border guards of the Zmiinyi Island (Snake Island) were demanded to surrender, with Ukrainian border guard responding with currently a well-known phrase: Russian military ship, go f**k yourself.
On the night of April 13, the head of the Odessa regional military administration Maxim Marchenko announced via telegram that Ukrainian defenders of the Black Sea had severely damaged the Russian ship with Neptune missiles.
