Russian forces launched seven anti-aircraft guided missiles targeting the southern Ukrainian city of Mykolaiv on Tuesday, killing at least one person and injuring 16 others, according to Ukraine’s Air Force Command.

The attack, reportedly carried out from annexed Crimea, damaged infrastructure, homes, restaurants, and commercial facilities in the city.

The Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration confirmed the casualties and extent of the damage, noting the strike occurred amid a series of overnight attacks across the country.

In addition to the assault on Mykolaiv, Russian forces launched two guided missiles at the Sumy and Chernihiv regions from the Kursk area. The attacks also included 17 drones originating from Russian territory.

Ukraine’s air defence systems were unable to intercept the incoming missiles, but the Air Force reported success in downing 12 drones across multiple regions, including Mykolaiv, Kyiv, Odessa, Poltava, Chernihiv, Kirovohrad, and Cherkasy. Four other drones reportedly went down in unspecified circumstances.
