A Russian missile barrage struck Ukraine’s capital overnight, killing one man and injuring three others in what officials say is the most severe attack on Kyiv in recent weeks. The assault caused fires and damage in multiple districts, Ukrainian authorities confirmed on Sunday.

The strike marks the first major escalation involving both missiles and drones since the United States announced it had brokered two ceasefire agreements with Russia and Ukraine late last month. One of the deals reportedly included commitments to halt attacks on each other’s energy infrastructure.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attack, stating it was a clear sign that Moscow is not interested in ending the war, which is now entering its third year.

“Such attacks are Putin’s response to all international diplomatic efforts,” Zelenskyy wrote on Telegram. “Each of our partners — America, the whole of Europe, the whole world — has seen that Russia is going to continue to fight and kill.”

He urged the international community to maintain and intensify pressure on Moscow: “There can be no easing of pressure. All efforts should be made to ensure security and bring peace.”
