Russian opposition politician and public figure Alexey Navalny ended his hunger strike.
He announced this on Instagram.
The politician said that thanks to the huge support of the people, doctors were allowed to see him.
"Thank you – now I have been examined twice by a council of civilian doctors. The last time right before the rally. They do research and analyzes and give me the results and conclusions. Doctors whom I fully trust issued a statement yesterday that we have achieved enough to I took off the hunger strike. Well, and, I will say frankly, their words that the tests show: “in the shortest time there will be no one to treat” … mmm … seem to me worthy of attention, ”the appeal says.
The oppositionist noted that another argument for ending the hunger strike was the fact that several people, including representatives of the Mothers of Beslan, went on a hunger strike in solidarity with him.
"Friends, my heart is full of love and gratitude for you, but I do not want anyone to experience physical suffering because of me. I do not withdraw the requirement to admit the necessary doctor to me – I lose the sensitivity of my arms and legs, and I I want to understand what it is and how to treat it, but taking into account the progress and all the circumstances, I'm starting to get out of the hunger strike. According to the rules, it will take the same 24 days and, they say, it's even harder. So wish you luck, "Navalny said.
