The Pentagon said that Russia has concentrated more troops near the border with Ukraine than in 2014.
This was stated by the press secretary of the US Defense Department John Kirby, reports Radio Liberty.
He did not specify the number of military personnel at the border, but stated that this situation raises serious concern.
"This is definitely more than in 2014," Kirby said.
Also, the Pentagon spokesman added that the stated purpose of the troops' stay – exercises – does not seem obvious.
The day before, after a meeting of the EU Council of Ministers, the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, said that Russia, according to him, had concentrated up to 150,000 of its military on the border with Ukraine and in the occupied Crimea.
