Traffic on Rustaveli Avenue in the Georgian capital city of Tbilisi will be restricted on Sunday due to the Tbilisi Cup cycling race, the Tbilisi City Hall announced on Friday.

As the municipality stated, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., vehicle movement, including public transport, will be completely restricted on Rustaveli Avenue, from the Olive Tree area to Freedom Square.

During the restriction period, alternative routes will be available via Leonidze, Ingorokva, Chavchavadze, Griboedov, Baratashvili and Tabukashvili streets.

Access from Melikishvili Avenue to Mtatsminda streets will be possible through Janishia, Tarkhnishvili, Tatishvili, Chovelidze and Zandukeli streets, and further via Barnovi, Gogebashvili and Dzmebi Kakabadzeebi streets.

In the opposite direction, vehicles traveling from Melikishvili Avenue and the area near Rustaveli metro station will be able to move through Griboedov, Makashvili, Barnovi and Shanidze streets. Freedom Square will only be accessible from directions other than Rustaveli Avenue.

Vehicles traveling from the Rustaveli metro area toward Freedom Square will be redirected at the Olive Tree point to continue via Javakhishvili Street and the right bank of the Mtkvari River.

Public transport will also operate on modified routes. Buses and minibuses traveling from Kostava Street to Baratashvili Street will move via Javakhishvili Street and the right bank of the Mtkvari, before resuming their regular routes. In the opposite direction, public transport will follow the same detour route.
