About a hundred people employed in the Rustavi Steel plant stopped their strike on Friday after coming to an agreement with the administration on several of their demands.

After a five-day strike, the factory management partially agreed to the strikers’ demands.

Per the agreement, the employees participating in the strike will not be persecuted and pressured.

The days missed during the strike will be compensated.

Salaries will be increased according to the following schedule: 100 Gel – from July 1, 2022; 100 Gel- from January 1, 2023; 50 Gel – from March 1, 2023.

The bonus system will be restored and the United Trade Union will be involved in the process to ensure  transparency.

This agreement was publicly presented to the strikers in front of the administrative building on July 8.

Initially the employees demanded a 30% increase in pay and the so-called 13th salary.

Later, they agreed to a 20% salary increase from July as the management complained about the difficulties caused by Russia’s war in Ukraine.

The salary of employees ranges between 800-900 GEL per month.
