Imprisoned former president Mikheil Saakashvili says that before Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky he was Russia’s No.1 enemy in the region.

“Now I am giving the honorable place to our president (Zelensky),” Saakashvili stated earlier today during a trial hearing in one of his cases in Tbilisi City Court.

“It is impossible to be happy with war. However, when there is a choice between dignity and war, if one chooses dishonor, he will receive both dishonor and war,” Saakashvili said, reportedly referring to the current state government of Georgia.

He stated that Russia is expected to ‘severly bomb’ Kyiv and other cities in the coming hours.

“However, I am sure Kyiv will stand strong,” he stated.

Currently Saakashvili holds Ukrainian citizenship.

He was arrested in Tbilisi in October of the last year after eight years in political exile.

Saakashvili said he returned to ‘free the country from the Georgian Dream government’s pro-Russian rule.’
