An imprisoned former President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili, who has accepted the offer of the country’s Justice Ministry to receive medical services in the Vivamedi clinic in Tbilisi, has raised several demands in exchange of his transportation to the civilian clinic,  in which the MPs of the ruling Georgian Dream party “advised:” him “to stop setting  ultimatums and obey doctors.”

Saakashvili, who is now in Rustavi Prison No.12, has demanded that family members, personal doctor Nika Kipshidze and members of the alternative Commission from the Center Empathy have permanent access to him.

He demanded uninterrupted access to lawyers and members of parliament, as well as others who have the legal right to see him.

Saakashvili also demanded that the treatment and evaluation of his condition be made with the involvement of the Center Empathy and the medical council under the Georgian Public Defender.

The ruling Georgian Dream party MP Mamuka Mdinaradze “reminded” Saakashvili that inmates were “raped and tortured” under his leadership, while “all servives are ensured for him under the current authorities.”

He told Saakashvili to stop raising ultimatums and obey doctors.

The Lelo opposition party MP Anna Natsvlishvili suggested that it is necessary to involve a third, neutral party,  in Saakashvili’s health issues which will assess the condition of the prisoner based on medical knowledge and competences.

She said that setting demands, conditions and preconditions is the politicization of the issue, which is not in Saakashvili’s “best interests for now.”
