Uncle of imprisoned former president Mikheil Saakashvili, Temur Alasania, has been summoned for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation into the violation of the secrecy of private communication.
Alasania is scheduled to be questioned before a judge in a court.
The investigation into the case began back in 2018.
Saakashvili says that his uncle was summoned for interrogation ‘as soon as he arrived in Georgia for New Year.’
He claims that the move has ‘political grounds.’
The third president was arrested in Tbilisi on October 1 of this year after eight years in political exile.
He said he returned to remove the ‘pro-Russian Georgian Dream’ from power.
