Georgian former president Mikheil Saakashvili has requested bringing his lawyer Nika Gvaramia, who also chairs the opposition-mindedc Mtavari TV, and Ukrainian consul to Gldani Prison No.18 hospital to make a decision whether or not to accept a transfer to Gori military hospital on the 50th day of his hunger strike.
The Georgian Justice Ministry offered Saaakshvili the transfer today.
In his previous comments, Gvaramia claimed that the Georgian Dream government could have allowed Saakashvili’s abduction by de facto Tskhinvali forces from Gori hospital, in central Georgia, near the Russian-occupied territory.
Eka Kherkheulidze, the United National Movement opposition party member, who met Saakashvili after the ministry’s offer earlier today, says that Saakashvili’ knows that the government may cheat him,’ and that is why he needs consultation with Gvaramia and the Ukrainian consul.
Currently Saakashvili holds Ukrainian citizenship and heads the Executive Committee of the Ukrainian National Reforms Council.
Saakashvili’s United National Movement party, which is now holding a rally in central Tbilisi, is waiting for Saakashvili’s decision on the transfer.
Saakashvili has been on hunger strike since his arrest in Tbilisi on October 1.
He fainted in Gldani Prison No.18 hospital yesterday.
