Arrested former president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, has urged emigrants to return to Georgia for ‘one, important day at least,’ which will come and he will inform the public about the date.

“The day will come soon,” Saakashvili stated from Rustavi Prison No.12, where he has been on hunger strike since his arrest in Tbilisi on October 1.

Saakashvili has thanked the emigrants who have already arrived in Georgia and are now standing at opposition rallies, demanding the annulment of  results of recent municipal elections and the release of Saakashvili.

The former president says he returned to Georgia after eight years in political exile to remove the Georgian Dream from power.

He was convicted in Georgia in absentia back in 2018 and was sentenced to six years in prison for abuse of power..

Saakashvili has also been charged with four other offences.
