Two arrested in Kvemo Kartli, Georgia, for illegal storage of 83,500 packs of excise-free cigarettes

The Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, in coordination with the Kvemo Kartli Regional Prosecutor’s Office in central Georgia, has arrested two individuals for illegally storing a large quantity of excise goods without proper labeling.

According to the Investigation Service, law enforcement officers seized a total of 83,500 packs of excise-free cigarettes from the suspects’ residential properties in the Kvemo Kartli region. The estimated market value of the confiscated goods is 403,600 GEL.

The investigation is being conducted under Parts 2 and 3 of Article 200 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which prescribes a prison sentence of six to eight years for such offenses.
