Georgian Parliament recognises credentials of all MPs after October elections

The Georgian parliament recognised the credentials of 150 members on Monday, with 88 votes in favour, amid opposition’s protest.

Prior to the vote, Giorgi Kalandarishvili, Chairman of the Central Election Commission, presented the results of the October 26 elections and submitted the necessary documentation to the Parliamentary Temporary Mandate Commission for the recognition of MPs’ credentials.

Kalandarishvili reported that 2,111,834 voters participated in the elections. According to the final results, the Georgian Dream party won 89 seats (53.93%), the Coalition for Changes: Gvaramia, Melia, Girchi, Droa secured 19 seats (11.03%), the Unity-National Movement took 16 seats (10.17%), the Strong Georgia-Lelo, for the People, for Freedom alliance gained 14 seats (8.81%), and Gakharia for Georgia won 12 seats (7.78%).

After the recognition of credentials, MPs took an oath of allegiance to the country, with the Georgian national anthem played in honour of the occasion.
