Cardinal Kurt Koch, head of the Vatican’s Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity, will travel to Georgia to represent the Holy See at the burial of Ilia II on 22 March. Catholic.ge announced on Friday, citing information from the Vatican Embassy in Tbilisi.

According to the same sources, the Vatican delegation accompanying Cardinal Koch will include the following senior Catholic Church officials:

  • Monsignor Jaromír Ladrapa, an official of the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity

  • Archbishop Ante Jozić, Apostolic Nuncio to Georgia and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps

  • Monsignor Alexander Rahinia, adviser to the Papal Legate in Georgia

  • Bishop Giuseppe Pasotto, Apostolic Administrator of the Latin Catholics in the Caucasus

  • Monsignor Gevork Noradounghian, Ordinary for Armenian Catholics in Eastern Europe, based in Yerevan
