The president of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, will arrive in Georgia today on a state visit, accompanied by his wife.
During the visit, Aliyev is scheduled to hold meetings with Georgia’s president, Mikheil Kavelashvili, and prime minister, Irakli Kobakhidze.
An official welcoming ceremony will take place at the presidential palace in Tbilisi, followed by a one-on-one meeting between Kavelashvili and Aliyev.
The Azerbaijani leader will later be hosted by the Georgian prime minister at the government administration building. Talks between Kobakhidze and Aliyev will be held both privately and in an expanded format, after which the two leaders are expected to deliver joint statements to the media.
As part of the programme, Aliyev will lay a wreath at the Heroes’ Memorial in Tbilisi and pay tribute to the memory of Azerbaijan’s national leader, Heydar Aliyev.
Aliyev is travelling with an official delegation that includes foreign minister Jeyhun Bayramov, presidential foreign policy aide Hikmet Hajiyev, economy minister Mikayil Jabbarov, energy minister Parviz Shahbazov, and digital development and transport minister Rashad Nabiyev.
