Salome Samadashvili, a member of the Strong Georgia opposition coalition, on Monday said Georgia had reached a “historic low” in its relations with the United States due to the government’s “increasingly extreme rhetoric towards Washington”.

“Strong Georgia will restore and strengthen ties with the US and the European Union, bringing tangible benefits to the country,” Samadashvili pledged.

She emphasized the current government’s “antagonistic statements” were damaging Georgia’s international standing.

“The recent sanctions imposed on two high-ranking Georgian officials were met with intense backlash, showing how deeply these measures impacted them. The next logical step could be summoning the ambassador for consultations, but we must focus on what truly matters – Georgia’s citizens,” she noted.

Samadashvili added that the MEGOBARI Act was designed to support Georgia, yet instead of leveraging opportunities with Western partners, the current administration was consumed with debates over sanctions and diplomatic recalls. She assured that her coalition would capitalize on the West’s support to address “critical issues” like the country’s economic crisis and unemployment.
