Georgia’s fifth President Salome Zourabichvili met with representatives of several opposition parties to discuss key political issues, including her recent participation in the Munich Security Conference and the ongoing political crisis in Georgia.

The meeting was attended by representatives from the United National Movement, Coalition for Change, Strong Georgia, Federalists, and For Georgia.

According to Tamar Chergoleishvili, a leader of the Federalists, the first topic of discussion was the Munich Security Conference, where Zourabichvili represented Georgia. The second issue was the parliamentary investigative commission established by the ruling Georgian Dream party to examine the former United National Movement government’s activities. Opposition parties at the meeting agreed that none of them would cooperate with this commission.

“We also discussed ways to overcome the crisis. Our proposal is to continue protests in the streets so that those aligned with the status quo realize that Bidzina Ivanishvili cannot resolve this crisis. This is happening naturally, and political parties can only support this process. Another crucial point, where the president plays a key role, is maintaining the West’s isolation of the ruling party. The third and most important topic was the opposition’s alternative – what we are doing as a political force,” said Chergoleishvili.

Badri Japaridze, a leader of Strong Georgia, stated that the attack on Zourabichvili at the airport was also discussed.

“She has visible injuries on her face from the attack. This was a disgusting act that clearly reflects Georgian Dream’s desperation. This is the behavior of a regime in agony, organizing attacks against its opponents while the police turn a blind eye,” Japaridze told TV Pirveli.

Tina Bokuchava, leader of the United National Movement, said the discussion also touched on the need for new elections and the release of political prisoners.

“The meeting primarily focused on President Zourabichvili’s visit to the Munich Security Conference, where, amid the international isolation of Ivanishvili’s pro-Russian regime, no representatives of the illegitimate government were present. We discussed the necessity of new elections and the release of political prisoners as the only path out of this political crisis,” Bokuchava stated.
