President Salome Zourabichvili has addressed the tragic death of a protester who was killed in a car accident while traveling to a demonstration. The president offered her condolences to the grieving family and used the opportunity to condemn the government for its lack of empathy toward the suffering of the Georgian people.

“I share the family’s sorrow and the grief of all of Georgia. Taking power means taking responsibility—not leading the country into tragedy. To everyone who today mocks their people’s pain and suffering, remember that time rules over all,” Zourabichvili stated, referencing ongoing protests and violence in the capital.

Her remarks come amid growing unrest in Tbilisi, where thousands have been demonstrating against the ruling party’s policies and the suspension of EU accession talks.
