Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili has expressed her gratitude to Polish President Andrzej Duda for his “unwavering support” for Georgia during a challenging period marked by “repression and terror”.

“Thank you, President Andrzej Duda, for standing with Georgia – personally, and on behalf of the Polish nation – at all times, especially during these dark hours of repression and terror,” Zourabichvili wrote.

“We trust that, with your support, Georgians will overcome, and our shared European future will unite us!”

The message comes amid widespread protests in Georgia against the Government’s decision last month to halt the country’s EU integration until 2028.
