In a recent press conference, President Salome Zourabichvili announced that she has a candidate for the position of Prime Minister but emphasized that the identity of this nominee will be disclosed only after the upcoming elections. She highlighted the constitutional requirement for the president to present a Prime Minister nominee and stressed the importance of adhering to the stipulated timelines.

“I have a candidate for Prime Minister, and the charter stipulates that the president must present this nominee. However, democracy requires that we take each other’s views into account,” President Zourabichvili stated. She acknowledged the opinions of all four political parties involved, noting that it might be more prudent to finalize the nomination after the electoral process.

“I have considered the perspectives of all four parties regarding this issue, and we will have further discussions. I will present my candidate, and we will see what we can agree upon and when,” she added.

Zourabichvili also stressed the necessity of respecting constitutional deadlines for the nomination process. “It will be challenging, and there will be discussions. This is democracy; nothing is easy. In a democratic system, it is much simpler to have a one-person, one-party rule, but that is not what is best or most acceptable for society,” she remarked.
