Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili has urged both domestic and international pressure to compel Bidzina Ivanishvili, widely seen as the country’s key decision-maker, to call for new elections.
In a statement, Zourabichvili declared, “We must use all forms of pressure, both internally and externally, to force Mr. Ivanishvili to make the decision to hold new elections. He is the only one making decisions, and before his system collapses entirely, he must act.”
The President outlined a strategy to ensure the country is prepared for snap elections, emphasizing the importance of legal and logistical readiness to avoid disorganization. Zourabichvili stressed that the recent OSCE report has introduced a sense of urgency, as time is running out to prevent Georgia from transitioning into what she described as a “fully Russian-style regime.”
The President also announced her participation in a protest rally scheduled for tomorrow at 9:00 PM on Rustaveli Avenue, where she will address demonstrators. “I will be with the people in front of the Parliament. Together, we will reaffirm that nothing will move forward without new elections,” she said, expressing confidence in the growing momentum of public protests.
