During Friday’s meeting with local election monitoring missions, Georgia’s President Salome Zourabishvili stated that new elections will be held, although the timing and specifics are still uncertain.

“You are the living witnesses who will not go anywhere and who will remain as the most important evidence. Your experience will not be lost,” Zourabishvili told the local monitoring missions.

She emphasized that the October 26 elections were not valid and no one would accept this outcome.

“I want to thank all of you personally, but also on behalf of the public and the country. You were on the front lines in this unjust battle, and you were the ones defending our votes. No new evidence is really needed. Everyone knows and is convinced that the most fundamental principles were violated during this election,” she emphasized.

Zourabishvili pointed out the importance of the election observers’ experience and their role in future elections. She assured them that their efforts will be even more crucial in the upcoming polls, as they will have gained invaluable experience and insight on what to focus on.

“This election did not happen, and no one will accept it. Therefore, your experience and your fight tomorrow will be even more important. You are the people who will better protect our votes in the next elections,” said the President.
