Georgia's ex-President holds phone call with European Council President

The press office of ex-Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili reported that she held a phone conversation with European Council President António Costa, initiated by Costa himself, to discuss the current situation in Georgia.
According to the statement, Costa requested detailed information about the ongoing democratic violations and repressive actions in the country. President Zourabichvili highlighted the alarming political situation following the disputed elections, describing it as a “catastrophic democratic backsliding.” She cited multiple cases of human rights violations, a worsening media landscape, and the growing influence of Russia in Georgia.
During the call, President Costa inquired about the expectations of the Georgian public and political spectrum towards the European Union, underscoring the importance of maintaining communication and support for Georgia’s democratic aspirations.
