Georgian police seize over 1,100 drug packages in Rustavi, two arrested

Police in Georgia have arrested two individuals following the seizure of more than 1,100 packages of drugs in the city of Rustavi, the Interior Ministry said on Monday.
Officers from the Tbilisi Police Department’s Gldani-Nadzaladevi Main Division detained two suspects, born in 1986 and 2000. One of those arrested has a prior conviction.
Law enforcement officers carried out searches of the suspects’ personal belongings and residence in Rustavi, as well as at several additional locations. During the operation, police seized 1,107 packages of a substance commonly referred to as bio, which investigators said had been prepared for distribution.
Authorities also confiscated materials believed to be used for drug packaging, including adhesive tape, electronic scales and resealable plastic bags.
The crime penalties of up to 20 years’ imprisonment or life imprisonment if the suspects are convicted.
