Officers from the Central Criminal Police Department detained a 1994-born citizen of Azerbaijan

Georgia’s Interior Ministry on Monday said law enforcement officers had arrested a foreign national on charges of illegally purchasing, possessing and facilitating the distribution of a large quantity of drugs.

Officers from the Central Criminal Police Department detained a 1994-born citizen of Azerbaijan.

Authorities said that during searches of the suspect’s person and temporary residence, police seized up to one kilogram of cocaine, reportedly prepared for distribution. Materials used for packaging narcotics were also recovered as evidence.

The crime carries penalties of up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
