Investigators also confiscated cash believed to have been obtained from the sale of narcotics

Officers of the Senaki District Division in western Georgia, under the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Police Department, have detained a Ukrainian national, O.S., born in 1983, on charges of illegal possession of narcotic drugs and facilitating their illegal distribution, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced.

According to the ministry, police searched the suspect’s person, vehicle and residence, seizing 50 packages of methadone-containing granules and powder prepared for sale. The seized substances are classified as being in an especially large quantity.

Investigators also confiscated cash believed to have been obtained from the sale of narcotics.

The case is being investigated under Articles 260 and 260⁴ of Georgia’s Criminal Code, which carry penalties ranging from up to 20 years to life imprisonment.
