The Chair of the Georgian Parliament’s Foreign Relations Committee, Nikoloz Samkharadze, said he held a meeting with US Congressman Robert Aderholt during a visit to the United States.

Samkharadze, who is visiting the US with a parliamentary delegation, is holding meetings with representatives of the Congress and the executive branch.

According to Samkharadze, Aderholt - a member of the United States House Committee on Foreign Affairs and the US delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly - discussed Georgia-US relations and Georgia’s readiness to improve bilateral ties.

He said the congressman was particularly interested in the situation in Georgia’s Russian-occupied territories, and the Georgian side provided detailed information about the current conditions and the threats facing the country.

The sides also discussed Georgia’s strategic role in transit and connectivity and agreed to continue cooperation in this area. Samkharadze added that Aderholt is known for his interest in children’s rights issues, and the Georgian delegation proposed working jointly on these matters between the Georgian Parliament and the US Congress.
