Irakli Kurashvili appointed as Georgia’s Ambassador to France and Permanent Representative to UNESCO

The Government of Georgia has appointed Irakli Kurashvili as the country’s new Ambassador to the French Republic and Permanent Representative to UNESCO.
Kurashvili, a seasoned diplomat with over 30 years of experience, has held numerous senior positions in Georgia’s foreign service, both in Tbilisi and abroad.
From 2023 to 2025, he served as Georgia’s Ambassador to Latvia. Prior to that, he was Ambassador to Argentina between 2017 and 2022, and to Switzerland from 2012 to 2017.
Between 2022 and 2023, Kurashvili headed the Directorate General for European Integration at Georgia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He holds the diplomatic rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.
