A parliamentary procedural committee in Georgia has considered the early termination of the mandate of State Security Service chief Mamuka Mdinaradze.

Committee chairman Davit Matikashvili said members had verified the authenticity of a resignation letter submitted by Mdinaradze to the Speaker of Parliament on 22 April 2026, in accordance with parliamentary rules.

He said the committee concluded that, under the law on the State Security Service of Georgia and the parliament’s rules of procedure, Mdinaradze’s powers as head of the service should be terminated ahead of schedule following his voluntary resignation.
