Opposition leader Lemonjava detained for blocking Rustaveli Avenue during protest

Giga Lemonjava, one of the leaders of the Coalition for Change, has been detained, reportedly for participating in the blocking of Rustaveli Avenue during ongoing protests in the Georgian capital city of Tbilisi.

Throughout the day, Lemonjava had been outside Tbilisi City Court expressing solidarity with other detained demonstrators.

According to current information, a total of 15 people have been arrested today on the same grounds. Those detained include Giorgi Liponava, Anuka Gamsakhurdia, Davit Mshvenieradze, Tengo Kirtadze, Zurab Tsetskhladze, Nino Lagidze, Bacho Kimutsadze, Lasha Bregvadze, Natia Letodiani, Dani Maghradze, Achi Gochitashvili, Giorgi Melitauri, Zviad Kvaratskhelia, Vasil Ivanov-Chikovani and his spouse Maiko Bokeria.
