Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić was forced to cut short his official visit to the United States after suddenly falling ill. Upon returning to Serbia, he was admitted to the Belgrade Military Medical Academy on Saturday for treatment.
According to Serbian media reports, Vučić experienced a sharp chest pain during his trip and sought medical assistance. Following medical examinations, he decided to return home. His scheduled meeting with US President Donald Trump did not take place.
Doctors have described Vučić's condition as "stable and satisfactory," though they noted it is unlikely he will be able to resume his regular duties in the coming days.
Professor Dragan Dinčić, head of the Health Department at Serbia’s Ministry of Defense and a cardiologist, confirmed that Vučić experienced symptoms related to a sudden spike in blood pressure—something he has reportedly faced three times over the past decade. Despite the discomfort, Dinčić said Vučić felt well during the flight back to Serbia and may be discharged from the hospital soon.
“President Vučić will leave the Military Medical Academy within an hour, but a full return to his usual work routine is unlikely in the immediate future,” Dr. Dinčić stated.
