Police have reportedly arrested several demonstrators at a rally against the rising fuel prices in Tbilisi earlier today.

Civilians initially gathered at the Republic Square and later proceeded near the parliament building and the Heroes Square, demanding to reduce the cost of fuel amid the surge in prices.

The police detained a number of demonstrators while they were attempting to block the road at the Heroes Square.

Prior to the arrests, the Georgian Interior Ministry issued a statement, calling on the citizens to refrain from blocking the roads as the move would cause a ‘collapse of transportation’ in the city.
