Several commanders of the Ukrainian Azov regiment, who surrendered in Mariupol back in May, were transferred to the temporary detention facility in Lefortovo, Moscow, – Russian news agency TASS reported on Monday. 

Earlier, it was reported that Sviatoslav Palamar, deputy commander of the Azov regiment, and Sergei Volinsky, commander of the 36th Naval Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, who had surrendered in Mariupol, had been transferred to Russia for “investigation”.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, up to 2,439 Ukrainian soldiers surrendered to the Russians at the Azovstal plant in Mariupol.
