Georgian, Albanian parliamentary officials discuss bilateral and EU cooperation

Georgia’s Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili has met Albania’s Deputy Parliament Speaker Klodiana Spahiu on the sidelines of a regional parliamentary summit in Montenegro.
Papuashvili expressed gratitude to the Albanian side for the visit of Archbishop Ioan of Albania to Georgia to offer condolences to Ilia II.
The meeting highlighted what both sides described as growing potential for cooperation between the two countries, both bilaterally and within the wider Western Balkans framework.
The officials also discussed Georgia and Albania’s shared aspiration for European Union membership and underlined the importance of cooperation in that direction.
Talks further focused on bilateral relations, with particular emphasis placed on deepening parliamentary cooperation.
The sides additionally reviewed relations with the European Union and NATO.
The meeting took place during the first summit of speakers of parliaments from member and partner states of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean in Budva.
