Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili has met Zhao Yide, who also chairs the Standing Committee of the Shaanxi People's Congress, during his official visit to China.

Papuashvili highlighted the importance of the meeting with the leadership of Shaanxi Province and underlined the province’s historical and economic significance, his press office said.

He said Shaanxi successfully combined ancient civilisation with modern technological development.

The two sides positively assessed relations between Georgia and China, noting that bilateral ties had developed into a strategic partnership and that cooperation was deepening across multiple sectors.

The meeting also focused on cooperation at local and regional levels, with both sides noting that ties between cities in Georgia and China were becoming increasingly active through twinning initiatives.

Papuashvili and Zhao expressed readiness to deepen institutional links and discussed cooperation in culture and education.

The Georgian parliament speaker said Shaanxi’s rich historical and cultural heritage created an important basis for cultural diplomacy.

During talks on transport and logistics, the sides discussed the further development of transit routes, particularly the Middle Corridor.
