Speaker Papuashvili meets OSCE/ODIHR election observation head

Shalva Papuashvili, the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, held a meeting with Owen Murphy, the head of the election observation mission from the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), to discuss Georgia’s pre-election environment, according to the Parliament’s press service.

Murphy expressed interest in parliamentary activities during the upcoming pre-election period, to which Papuashvili provided detailed insights, the Parliament press office said. The discussion also highlighted the importance of integrating electronic voting methods for the 2024 elections, a development positively assessed by Murphy, the press office added.

During the meeting, Murphy also briefed Papuashvili on the activities of the OSCE/ODIHR observation mission in Georgia. Papuashvili thanked him for the “long-standing and successful efforts” of the organization in observing elections in the country.
